Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Police Department provides
diligent police presence and availability throughout the
Township . The officers respond to
reports of criminal events, requests for police service, and any
Township occurrence in which police may be of assistance, in a
timely manner. They perform to the
utmost of their
abilities, in a courteous manner, doing all that can be done
toward the thorough and efficient resolution of all incidents
brought to their attention. It is their goal to maintain
responsive contact and communications with complainants,
witnesses, and victims. We encourage community compliance
with laws and participation in public safety through crime
prevention and education programs, community relation
activities, and in setting examples for the public to
follow. Finally, the Police Department provides community
services to the public that aid in accomplishing the police
mission.

Unit:
We would like to introduce the newest member of the
Conneaut Lake Police Department; a
7-year-old, black and brown, male German
Shepherd from Czechoslovakia named Zark. Zark joined the
department in February, 2000 as the first service dog owned by the
Police Department and immediately
commenced his training with Officer Greg Nichols. The 2 have
completed a minimum of 240 hours training as a team prior to
working on duty as part of our scheduled patrol.
K9 Zark is certified by the North American Police Work Dog
Association - NAPWDA. Zark is a dual-purpose patrol dog certified
in Explosives Detection, along with Tracking, Building and Area
Searches, Criminal Apprehension and Officer Protection. In
November, 2000 K-9 Zark assisted the United States Secret Service to
help protect presidential candidates.
Fire
Departments
Sadsbury
Township is served by two volunteer fire companies --
Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department
and Conneaut Lake Park
Volunteer Fire Department.
These two companies provide a
full range of firefighting and rescue response services to our
community. Although each of these companies possess a
specific service area, they respond on a mutual aid basis
throughout the Township and provide mutual aid to surrounding municipalities.
Mission:
To
provide fire protection and heavy rescue services to Sadsbury
Township as well as providing mutual aid to neighboring fire
departments.
Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department
was organized in
1933
and operates from
Station 3, located on on Route 322/6 in Conneaut Lake Borough and
from Station 2 located on Route 18 on the east side of Conneaut
Lake. The primary service area of the
Company is the southern and eastern portion of the Township. Conneaut
Lake Volunteer Fire Department
is considered an engine and heavy rescue company with a tanker
for rural firefighting operations. A rescue boat for
incidents on Conneaut Lake is also operated by the Department.
Conneaut Lake Park Volunteer Fire Department
was organized
in 1938 and
operates from a fire station located at 11965 State Highway
618. This Company's primary service area
encompasses the western portion of the Township. The Conneaut
Lake Park Volunteer Fire Department
specializes in performing water tanker operations for
the community and is dual dispatched with the Conneaut Lake
Volunteer Fire Department on all structure fires .
